The 3rd International Bass Fishing Tournament "Río la Pasión Vive" was held on May 18 and 19 in Sayaxché, Petén. Approximately 300 participants gathered at the Río la Pasión to show who could catch the largest bass and thus become the winner of this third edition. Fishermen from all over Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador demonstrated their skill within the assigned 75 navigable kilometers of the Pasión River. The organizers set points for weighing the bass caught and maintained the minimum weight rule that obliged fishermen to return the bass to the river if this minimum was not reached. First place in the competition was won by Marco Tulio Argueta, from Cobán, who captured a specimen weighing 13.9 lbs and 66 cm in size. Second place went to Julián Trujillo, also from Cobán, with a bass measuring 11.16 lbs and 78 cm in size. And third place went to Rubén Darío Ramírez with a 10.8 lb bass and a size of 76 cm.
