REPSA, committed to the reforestation of its areas of influence
REPSA, a HAME Group company committed to responsible and sustainable production, donated 12 thousand trees of forest species to the National Forest Institute -INAB-. These trees will be used to recover forest cover in the municipality of Sayaxché, subregion VIII-3 of Petén, according to Oscar René Herrera Rosales, INAB Technician. Rosales reported that the planting of the plants will support forestry and sustainable development in the municipality, especially as part of the "Sembrando Huella" program, which seeks to promote a forestry culture, adding awareness, promotion and reforestation activities that allow people to know the importance of the proper use of forests; In addition, it contributes to the conservation and recovery of the urban and rural landscape in alliances with key actors at the local level. In Sayaxché, reforestation will be carried out on the banks of the Petexbatún Lagoon and the La Pasión River. For his part, Erick Alexander Julián Morales, Environmental Management Coordinator of REPSA, assured that this initiative responds to the commitment to be a responsible and sustainable company, supporting the promotion of reforestation in the country. "The best way we can support is by providing resources to INAB. For REPSA it is a privilege to give this type of donations and contribute to the environment, we also demonstrate good communication and that our doors are open to any State institution," commented Erick Morales. Darío Ico, Social Manager of the Social Management Department of REPSA, stated that the REPSA nursery produces about 150 thousand plants per year. Plants that are intended to support reforestation programs such as "Sembrando Huella", providing ecosystems with quality plants that meet the requirements of the INAB. The nursery also produces native species, such as cedar, mahogany, guasiban, among others.
